Can You Add Fresh Ingredients Into Soap Base? heres Why Its A Bad Idea!

Many of you have dmed me to ask me if they could add fresh ingredients into their soap base.

Most wanted to add fresh ingredients like breastmilk, yogurt, juices, hydrosols and so on into their soaps; just like how ‘Lush’ does it.

The answer is NO.

You see when you add all these ingredients into your soap; it will apoil fast.

Simply because fresh ingredients are nutrients to microbes like bacteria and fungus; and so when you add these; they will twnd to get spoil.

So what ingredients we cant add?

Ingredients that we shouldnt add is anything that will get spoil in room temperature. Ao example if your milk in room temperature will spoil in 8 hours, similarly it will spoil in the soap after 8 hours (we cant see but the bacterias are beranaking)

The point is; if you are not gona eat the food after 1-2 days in room temperature; you shouldnt add it into the soap.

If you still want to make soap with these ingredients; make cold process soap.

Cp soap is made by lye (sodium hydroxide) which will kill all the existing microbes. And because the pH of the soap is above 8, the microbes wont be able to survive in it; making it a perfect alternative to adding all these fresh ingredients into your product.

Or easier; get a soapbase thats already added with these fresh ingredients.

In soaplab we make all our bases from scratch and add fresh ingredients extracts in it. So if you are looking for goats milk soap base, or honey soapbase, or even papaya soap base. We have it all:)

Hope this clarifies things and if you have any questions do contact us:)
