Why Natural Deodorant Feels Hot?
One of the things i love about creating formulation for soaplab is the fact that i can try to make it as natural as possible; the way i want it to be.
One of it is deodorant. Now if you have been using commercial deodorant; you will notice that the deodorant when applied; gives you a cooling feeling; something that feels cold and refreshing. The ingredient that gives this sensation is alcohol.
When alcohol evaporates; it gives this cooling sensation; making you feel fresh.
However; after covid im sure many already understand how drying alcohol is. Over time; it just leaves your skin to become dark and patchy.
Due to this; when i created deodorant; i decided to do it using glycerin and propylene glycol (thats made from natural source) as the base for my deodorant.
These are humectant that attracts water from surrounding to moisturise your skin.
However; similarly; because it attracts water from surrounding; it kind of gives out heat; making you feel warm when applying the deodorant.
Some thinks that this is an allergic reaction but its actually not. Its just a way the ingredients reacts on the skin. One evaporates and gives cold sensation (alcohol), one absorbs and gives warm sensation.
If you were a diyer; and if you wanted to make your own deodorant; these are some thing you can keep in mind when formulating:)
Let me know if you have any further questions:)
