What Is Sulphate Free Shampoo

Hi all. this week we are introducing our haircare series (recipes) and you will find a lot of 'new' products in it.
It was taking us quite sometime to round up our ingredients from suppliers all over the world , and the tests etc to be done and thats why it took us close to a year before we launch this hair care series.
Now one of the main things we were looking for was a sulphate free shampoo.

Why sulphate Free?

Now the opposite of sulphate free is shampoos with sulphate right. and most of these shampoos have ingredients like sodium laurel sulphate (SLS) as the first or second ingredient after water (don't believe check out your shampoo label! even those baby shampoos are the same!).

So these SLS; more commonly known as surfactants are quite strong in nature and its awesome to remove dirts and dead skin on your scalp. However; its terrible in terms of it will remove the scalps natural oil as well leaving you with very dry scalp and hair that is 'half dead'. it also aggravates skin problems like eczema and scalp psoriasis.

So because of that; we formulated shampoo using sulphate free surfactants; which are much milder and naturally derived (mostly from coconut oil and palm oil) so that its gentler on scalp.

Who should use sulphate Free Shampoo?

there are many people that will benefit from Sulphate Free Shampoo; however these are the people that will get the best results when using a Sulphate Free Shampoo:

  1. People with scalp problem like eczema and scalp psoriasis. By changing to sulphate free shampoo; they will stop 'removing' the natural oil from the scalp and this in turn will help moisturise the scalp even more; preventing the disease to happen
  2. People who colour/dye/ perm their hair. Sulphate based shampoo usually strips off the colour/ perm much faster because it is that STRONG!. When changed to sulphate free shampoo; users experienced a longer colour/ perm (like 3-6 months more!)
  3. People with dry and frizzy hair- for the same reason as (1). your hair will feel much hydrated for a long time

Who Shouldn't Use Sulphate Free Shampoo

  1. For those who generally work in oily and 'dirty' setting and need deep cleansing.
  2. Athletes that sweats a lot

I have Very Oily Scalp. Should i Use Sulphate Free Shampoo?

yes! did you know that your scalp might be oily because you are using strong shampoo that strips off the oil on scalp? Through a negative feedback to brain (thats just how the human body works); the brain will command the scalp to produce more oil to compensate with the oil loss. Thats why your scalp gets oily within a day after you last wash your hair. Try this milder shampoo; it may work to reduce the oil production:-)

How Often Can I Shower With This Shampoo Base?

Since Sulphate Free Shampoos are mild; you can shower daily with it. Just incase you need a deep cleansing shampoo; i usually go daily with this mild shampoo, and use the sulphate shampoo as deep cleansing once a week.

I hope this post clarifies some of your doubt. Please don't hesitate to ask anything you need below.
