A few days ago a customer send us a ‘GMP Cert’ and asked us if we have this cert.
Truthfully this cert was something i never got before for our GMP company but it looked very much like the ones issued by NPRA for pharmaceutical GMP company when i was working there (not commonly seen for cosmetic GMP coz its by request)
And so i decided to ask a few acquintence in NPRA about it and turns out its a cert that we GMP factories can request if we wanted to export our products.
Now since we dont do much OEM for international companies and none asked us this before; i personally wasnt aware of this.
Maybe our Brunei and Singapore clients didnt need it so i honestly didnt know about this😓
So anyway; i applied for the cert and now we are waiting for it.
All ok.
Only thing is; the cert that this customer gave us looked so dubious.
Like something was really off.
And so i went to the NPRA website and searched for manufacturers that are approved GMP and guess what; this company doesnt even exist!
They have been giving this cert to ‘everyone’ and make people believe they are real but aiyo: they are not!
What they did was they give this to all, send sample etc; and when the customer pays; its a totally different story.
I saw some of their google review where their customer also complain that they took money but never produce and gave grandmother story of why their products are not notified.
The horror😩 and its not cheap!
So anyways; for those of you who are planning to do your products in a GMP factory; always make sure the company is a GMP company.
Heres how to do it:
- visit NPRA website & go to ‘ List of Cosmetic Manufacturers in Quest System’ (im not giving you the link here coz i want you to google the latest one)
- Type in the company’s name. Like ours, our manufacturing arm is called ‘SoapWorks PLT’
- And see if the name and address of the company is correct.
If all is good; proceed.
If dubious; ask for more information from the manufacturer or you can go to the real location for meeting first before handing in your money.
All in all; make sure dont get conned.
Too many of them doing this.
There are few manufacturers are not GMP approved/ their licence have been revocked due to unethical practices.
So make sure you do your due diligence. It your company’s reputation you are dealing with here eventually
Good luck💪🏼 and let me know if you have any further questions:)
