Newbie Entrepreneurs Mistake; Product Design

Ever since i started soaplab 10 years ago ive come across many entrepreneurs. 

Mostly these 3 yrs after we opened GMP factory. From here; i could classify people to two ‘type’: newbie and seasoned entrepreneurs. 

Now one of the biggest differences i see is the way they look at ‘product’ 

Newbies: are always always fixated on product; not so much the quality; but its the packaging, the design, the logo: all these aesthetic things that sort of paralyses them moving forward ‘fast’

They take months if not years ‘looking’ for the perfect packaging that when they finally do; their motivation just fizzles away; abandoning the idea. 

Seasoned entrepreneurs; they are different. 

These group of people are super fast in making decisions. Sometimes in the first meeting itself they would just make full payment to get their products fast. 

No packaging? takpe use what we have first. Their goal: is to launch as fast as possible. 

Then over time; they would change the aesthetic of the product. 

Why? 

Coz they believe in the 80:20 rules ( they spend 20% of their time and ‘energy’ in product and 80% figuring how to deliver the value; the marketing etc) 

Ive asked y to one of them and they said over the years they realized that most of the time the aesthetic of the product they just syok sendiri; but its most likely not what their customers want. 

And so from feedbacks over time; they tend to improve bit by bit. 

They also believe in mvp (minimum viable product). Basically just see can sell or not; if can; baru pikir next step💪🏼

Plus they also want to cepat2 release in the market coz want to be faster than competitors

Thinking back; most big companies does this too; if steve job waited for the perfection of ip16, ip would never be released:) 

All im saying is; dont wait and get paralyzed with overthinking. Remember its progress over time💪🏼
