How Long Does It Take To get KKM Notification?

So how long does it take to get KKM notification. This is one of the questions that most people ask and the reason why is because some factories do take very very long to get the customers the KKM notification.

There are two parts of KKM notification

The first part is basically about the factory itself. 

So the factory or the manufacturer when they get an order from you, they will have to go through stability tests and a series of R&D before they can even tell you that this is what the ingredient list is. This usually depends on the clients, sometimes it's like within 1-2 months, sometimes can take up to 1-2 years before you are satisfied with the products produced. once that's finalised then you will get an ingredient list.

And so after you get the ingredients list and details, only then you as a product owner will be able to make your labels and your designs and so on. 

And basically after all that is done only then you can apply for the KKM notification in Quest 3 in NPRA itself.

Getting the token

Now the thing is when it comes to applying for KKM notification in NPRA, the first thing you have to do is you have to get a token for your company. 

So that means you will have to purchase the token. 

I think it is about RM300 to RM350 which you can do on your own. And then after that you are basically going to apply for it and usually that application takes quite some time. 

Sometimes it takes about two weeks, sometimes it takes up to one month depending on how fast you respond to the questions that the token people will ask for.

Notifying your product

Once all that is done then you can start registering or notifying your cosmetic product. 

Usually for notifying cosmetic product it happens almost immediately or within the first 24 hours unless of course you are putting any ingredients that are a little bit more 50-50 or something that is going to give a red flag to the system. Then it may take a longer time up to two weeks for approval.

Most of the time if you are with SoapLab Malaysia because we already have pre approved bases and so on, if you are using these bases usually the approval is within 24 hours.

Claims on your label

Now the thing is this also depends on your claims because sometimes your labels will have claims that are not supposed to be there. You know like over claim things like its for a certain disease, or whitening, or will heal etc (its cosmetic, not medications so you can't claim these).

If you have the claims there then of course the approval process will take much longer.
