French Green Clay Soap: DIY In Malaysia (Cold Process Soap Using Lye)

Hi guys..
If you have been following SoapLab Malaysia for a while you will realise that we just love our handmade cold process soap. For beginners; the melt and pour soap is the easiest. But if you are looking for a challenge; cold process soap using lye is the way to go.

Although melt and pour soaps are significantly easier to make, cold process soaps are better for you. This is because the soaps are able to retain the benefits of ingredients. Plus you can add way more than what you could add into a melt and pour soap.

Today’s recipe are for clay cold process soaps.

To make them; simply add Soaplab’s Sodium Hydroxide pastille’s into distilled water as seen in the video. After that; add it into oil mixture and finish it off with lavender sage essential oil, french green clay, and sweet almond oil.

An oil mix is the combination of castor, coconut, olive and palm oil. The oil mix is very moisturising and keeps your skin hydrated. This is a recipe i found the best to make a 'all rounder' soap for a hot weather area like in Malaysia.

You may see a lot of 'moisturising' oil soap recipes in the internetd (mostly using olive oil; called as castile soap) but in Malaysia unfortunately its not really suitable. Due to the humidity of this country; the soap will sweat and remain soft at all times. Plus we sweat a lot here therefore we need a more 'cleansing' soap in this climate.

So anyways; back to this recipe:

Lavender sage essential oil is added as an anti inflammatory which reduces inflammation and redness of the skin.

French green clay removes impurities of the skin and balances the production of oil on your skin . It also calms irritated skin and reduces redness. (if you want to read more about the benefit of clays click here)

Sweet almond oil, which is rich with Vitamin E, helps your skin retain moisture and also works as anti oxidant which keeps it healthy, radiant and smooth.
