Hi all! Today we will be making a soap especially for the Festival of Lights! This will be a nice door gift for the guest attending your house on the day.
The soap we are making today is a cold process method soap. If you have never made cold process soap before; read the difference between all the different soapmaking process here.
To make the soap you will need an oil mix, which contains coconut, olive, palm and castor oil. This is one of the recipe that i personally love because its perfect for Malaysian weather. If you see online; most of the recipes found favors olive oil only soaps.
However; ive tested it before and it turns out these olive oil only soaps are not too suitable for our humid asian weather. We tend to sweat a lot; and so besides moisturising, we also need soaps that cleanse properly; hence we need coconut oil for that. We also need a hard bar or lathering soap (its just our mindset that we need lots of bubbles to feel clean) hence; i love palm oil and castor oil for that.
I know theres lots of contrevesy with palm oil but dont worry because soaplab’s palm oil is certified and ethically sourced from Malaysia (not Indonesia!)
All the oils provide a wide array of benefits to your skin. For example, coconut oil has anti-aging properties which make you look more youthful so this soap; will help you too!
To make; Add, Soaplab’s sodium hydroxide pastilles with distilled water. Mix it with all the oils; until trace (water and oil mixes) and add all the other exepients.
We also added Sweet almond which is rich with Vitamin E. It keeps your skin healthy and radiant.
For scents; we added Plumeria fragrance oil in. Finally, add neon pink, ultramarine blue, and saffron mica to give your soap beautiful dashes of color.

- 94.5g Coconut Oil
- 94.5g Olive Oil
- 31.5g Castor Oil
- 94.5g Palm Oil
- 46.5g SoapLab’s Sodium Hydroxide (NaOH) Pastilles
- 46.5g Distilled Water
- 18g Plumeria Fragrance Oil
- 5g Neon Pink Mica
- 5g Ultramarine Blue Mica
- 5g Saffron Mica

- If applying on face, avoid citrus based or sandalwood essential oil as Malaysian weather will cause your skin to be easily sun burnt. Wear sun protection if add these Essential oils.
