This week at SoapLab, we’re making Semambu, or Neem products, a powerful herb that’s been used in Ayurveda and Malay traditional remedies for long time.
Ask any bnenek or makciks and they will tell you how good neem is. i specifically remembered when i9 got my chicken pox, there was fresh neem everywhere either to scratch with it, or making a herbal bath from it.
It did help in itch; but did you know its also traditionally used as anti virus! was so good!
anyways; heres the full reason why one should use semambu/ neem in their products
Benefits of Neem in Cosmetics:
Antibacterial and antifungal – great for acne, eczema, and dandruff.
Anti-inflammatory – helps reduce redness, swelling, and itchiness.
Rich in antioxidants – protects skin from environmental damage.
Balances oil – especially useful for oily skin and scalp.
Traditional use for chickenpox, boils, and rashes – often added in herbal baths.
1) Neem Body Wash
Made with SoapLab’s Sulphate-Free Coconut Liquid Soap Base, this is gentle on skin and suitable for daily use, especially if you’re dealing with body acne.

2g Alyssum Flower Fragrance Oil
5g Neem Extract
0.5g Green Mica
1g Glycerin

2) Neem Body Gel
A cooling gel that works well for itchy or inflamed skin, perfect for post-shower use or even mild rashes.
Ingredients (makes 1kg):
1kg SoapLab’s Aloe Vera Gel Base
5g Geranium Essential Oil
5g Neem Extract
1g Peach Pink Mica
2g Glycerin

3) Cold Process Neem Soap
Best for people with acne-prone skin or those who prefer all-natural bar soaps with antibacterial benefits.
Ingredients (makes 1kg):
300g Coconut Oil
300g Olive Oil
300g Palm Oil
100g Castor Oil
144g Sodium Hydroxide
188g Water
5g Chromium Green Mica
5g Synstar Red Mica
50g Lychee & Cranberry Fragrance Oil
10g Neem Extract
Rubbing Alcohol – to spray

4) Neem Face Mask
Made using SoapLab’s Jojoba Lotion Base and green clay, this mask helps unclog pores, absorb excess oil, and reduce breakouts.
Ingredients (makes 1kg):
600g SoapLab’s Jojoba Lotion Base
400g Green Clay
0.5g Green Tea Fragrance Oil
5g Neem Extract
Rubbing Alcohol – to spray

5) Neem Body Lotion
Traditionally, semambu is boiled and used in baths during chickenpox outbreaks. This lotion is our modern take on that, using SoapLab’s Jojoba Lotion Base.
