How To Make Handmade Lip Balm Scrub (2 in 1)

Hi all, hope you guys are having a great day. Today I'm gonna show you guys how to make lip balm scrub. Now why do i call it such? Well what i did was to incorporate lip balm and the scrub together. Its more like a two in one product.

Usually the lip scrub will be kept in a container and  its quite difficult to bring it around. So i thought why not put it into a chapstick so that its portable and i can scrub my dry lips anytime i want. At the same time its moisturising enough and taste absolutely yummy (thanks to the sugar and flavouring) that it works as a lip balm too.

So for this tutorial I've used the same recipe as the lip balm tutorial. Only i didn't put much beeswax as i didn't want it to be too solid. I wanted it to melt instantly when it touches my lips so that i can scrub it properly. If you want a harder lip balm, feel free to add more beeswax.

Ingredients:

  1. 25g Shea Butter (refined)
  2. 25g Avocado Oil
  3. 15g Beeswax
  4. 1g Vitamin E oil
  5. 3 tablespoon sugar
  6. Few sprinkles of Ultramarine Blue color
  7. Pina Colada Lip Flavoring (as much as required. Stop when you like the smell)
How To Make:
  1. Melt your first three ingredients in the microwave using a heat safe container.
  2. Once melted, add your Vit E, Sugar, Color and flavour.
  3. Mix it until the color is properly distributed. You don't have to worry about the sugar melting because all the ingredients you are using here is oil based and sugar doesn't melt in oil.
  4. Let it cool down. You can use waterbacth to help the cooling down. You want it to be more solid state but not that hard to a point where you can't pour it in. If it hardens, you can always melt it in short duration in the microwave (15-30sec). The reason you need it to be slightly solid is because if it is in liquid state, the sugar will sink in, so the top part won't be too scrubby.

  5. Pour it into your Lip Balm stick. While waiting for it to cool down and harden (I'm a little impatient so i had put it in the freezer for 10minutes), prepare your labels. I have uploaded the label in the free label section so you are always welcomed to download and use the labels.

  6. Done!

How To Use?:
  1. Apply on ur lips,
  2. Scrub using your finger
  3. Once satisfied, wipe it with tissue paper, or just lick the sugar away.
  4. Done! Your lips will be very moisturising after this.
So.. Hope you guys like it and do try it out its super easy to make and lasts really long.

  7. hi i'm just wondering if i can use food colouring instead of the mica (is it mica?) powder? thanks for sharing!

  8. hi Gina. Most food colouring are water soluble and not oil soluble. so it might not mix properly with lip balm as they are anhydrous product (all oil based no water). if you do have one this oil soluble sure no problem:-)
