Hi all, wondering how to pamper yourself this Valentine’s before Date Night? You’ve come to the right place ;) Today’s recipe is something you wish you’ll be eating yourself, inspired by…. CAKE!
We make our own cold process soap this time, using our tried and tested method of course. The instructions in the video are super easy to follow, so don’t get intimidated.
For the fragrance, we chose Dark Chocolate Fragrance oil, which smells exactly like dark chocolate..yummy! Next we use Synstar Red and Titanium Dioxide for coloring. Finally, we add in Almond Oil, for a nutty scent but most importantly to nourish your skin with vitamin E and protect it from aging.
Excited? We are! Let us know when you try it .

- Combine lye flakes with distilled water carefully. Wear gloves & long sleeves to avoid backsplash getting in contact with exposed skin.
- Slowly mix with a whisk until all the lye flakes have dissolved in the distilled water. Solution may become hot, do be cautious.
- To bring lye solution to room temperature, place container in a water bath.
- Separately, pour your Oil Mix into a heat resistant mixing container. Add in room temperature Lye Water.
- Next, use a whisk and mix until it reaches thin trace. Timing of this may vary as the faster you mix, the faster solution will saponify and reaches thin trace.
- Add in Dark Choc Fragrance Oil into the mixing container. Mix to combine the oil into the mixture.
- Split soap into 2 equal parts.
- Add in Titanium Dioxide that has been diluted with 10g of Almond Oil and mix.
- In the other container, add in Synstar Red Mica that also has been diluted with Almond Oil. Mix with a whisk.
- Next, pour in half of the red soap mixture into a silicone cake mold. Leave soap to set for a little while.
- Next, pour in half of the white soap mixture on top of the red soap mixture in the mold.
- Spread the soap using a spatula.
- Next, pour in the rest of the red soap mixture.
- Also using a spatula, spread the soap evenly.
- With the rest of the white soap mixture, pour in 2/3rd of them on top to top it all off.
- With the rest of the soap, place in a disposable piping bag with the piping tip of your choice.
- Pipe on the “cream” to your cake.
- Add on heart shaped soap on top for decoration. Leave soap to harden for 24 hours.
- Once ready, remove soap from mold. Using a kitchen knife, cut soap as how you would cut a cake.
- Soap will need 4 weeks to cure. After 4 weeks, soap will be ready to use :)
