DIY Soap: Chocolate Vanilla Cream Swiss Roll Soap (For Home Bakers)

Today we have an extremely exciting recipe. We will be making the Chocolate Vanilla Cream Swiss Roll Soap!

In this recipe we use SoapLab's Handmade white soap base and coconut liquid soap base.

The coconut liquid soap base offers the skin a variety of benefits such as moisturizing, hydrating and reducing inflammation of the skin. The opaque white soap base gives you different creative possibilities to make your soap look great.

Add chocolate chip cookie fragrance oil, for a warm fuzzy feeling and brown iron oxide mica. There you have it, you very own swiss roll!

Hope you love making it as much as we did. Tc.

Visual Guide

  1. Using a kitchen knife, cut SoapLab’s Opaque White Soap Base into small cubes. The smaller the cube, the faster it will melt.

  2. Place cubes into a heat resistant container and melt at 20 seconds interval. Check on soap constantly to avoid soap from getting burn.

  3. Once melted, using a pipette, add in Chocolate Chip Cookie Fragrance Oil into the melted soap.

  4. Next, add in Brown Iron Oxide Mica that has been mixed with glycerin into the mixture. Then, mix everything with a spatula.

  5. Pour the soap mixture onto a silicone baking tray. Spray on some rubbing alcohol to remove any air bubbles. Leave soap to harden for 30 minutes.

  6. Once harden, gently using your fingers, peel off the soap sheet. Try to go slow and not break the sheet.

  7. “Massage” the soap sheet by rolling & bending it in order to prep the sheet for the next step.

  8. Next, melt some more SoapLab’s Opaque White Soap Base (refer to step 1 and 2). Once melted, add in SoapLab’s Coconut Liquid Soap Base into the mixing container.

  9. Using a hand blender with the whisk attachment, whip soap mixture until it is airy and fluffy, just like whipped cream.

  10. This will take about 1 - 2 minutes of whipping, depending on the speed. If it starts to form and hold soft peaks, then it is ready.

  11. Using an offset spatula, slather on the soap cream onto the soap sheet. Spread the cream onto the sheet to ensure easy rolling.

  12. Once ready, go ahead and roll up the soap. Try make it as tight as possible, this will produce a neater outcome.

  13. With the same offset spatula, clean up excess soap cream, or even add more to make the soap look neater.

  14. Using a soap cutter (optional) and a knife, cut the soap according to about a thickness of a real swiss roll.

  15. With that, soap is ready!
