DIY Soap Using Almond Milk (100% Vegan, Fresh; Cold Process Method)

Nuts provide so many benefits for our health whether from consumption or applying it to our skin. Today’s recipe is the Nuts about Almond Milky Bar. Almond milk is a new favourite among consumers, while almonds are one of the healthiest snacks around. Today we will make your favorite nut into a soap.

To do so, combine an oil mix with lye flakes, distilled water, 137 degree’s almond milk and almonds. This method is called the cold processed method so that all the nutrients are retained. Heres a link if you are interested to read more about it.

The oil mix is rich with antioxidants and vitamins which will moisturize and nourish your skin. Almond Milk is rich with antioxidants which protects and rejuvenates the skin. It also hydrates and moisturizes it, keeping dry skin away. The almonds are nourishing and leaves the skin smooth and supple.

To have a nutty, sweet smell add almond fragrance oil. Yum! We hope you love this!

  1. Combine lye flakes with distilled water carefully. Wear gloves & long sleeves to avoid backsplash getting in contact with exposed skin.

  2. Slowly mix with a whisk until all the lye flakes have dissolved in the distilled water. Solution may become hot, do be cautious.

  3. To bring lye solution to room temperature, place container in a water bath.

  4. Measure out the Almond Milk carefully to avoid any spillage and then set aside.

  5. Separately, pour your Oil Mix into a heat resistant mixing container. Combine room temperature Lye Water  with the oil mix.

  6. Next, use a whisk and mix until it reaches thin trace. Timing of this may vary as the faster you mix, the faster solution will saponify and reaches thin trace.

  7. Next, add in Almond Fragrance Oil. For this, use a pipette for easy measuring & dispensing

  8. Add in Almond Milk into the container and mix everything using a whisk until milk & oil are evenly dispersed throughout the soap mixture.

  9. Prepare your silicone mold. Spray with Rubbing Alcohol to sanitise mold. Next, pour in soap mixture into each cavity. Pour carefully, soap might still be warm.

  10. Sprinkle on some almonds on top of each soap. Then, leave soap for 24 to 48 hours to harden.

  11. Once hardened, carefully pull mold away from soap. This will help preserve those desired sharp & crispy edges of the soap.

  12. Whenever you feel ready, gently push soap out from the mold.

  13. Soap will be needing 2 - 4 weeks to fully cure before it is used. Keep soap aside till then.
