Peppermint candy is a staple of the Christmas season so today we will be making the peppermint candy soap. Making this soap could be a great way for you to have fun spending time with your children.
You will need SoapLab’s handmade transparent soap base which will act a gentle cleanser and moisturizer. Next add peppermint essential oil, which prevents bacteria from harming the skin, and also provides a cooling effect to the skin.
Finally, to get your soap to look like a peppermint candy cane, add synstar red and green mica with a white soap base. Have fun!

Ingredients: (makes 6 x 50g Soap)
- 240g SoapLab’s Opaque White Soap Base
- 60g SoapLab’s Transparent Soap Base
- 15g Peppermint Essential Oil
- 5g Synstar Red Mica
- 5g Green Mica
- 20g Glycerin
- 25 - 30 sprays of Rubbing Alcohol

- Weighing Scale (Digital)
- Heater (Induction cooker/ double boiler / microwave)

Visual Guide
- First, prepare your Soap Base. Cut 350g of SoapLab’s Opaque White Soap Base into little cubes, the smaller the cubes the faster it will melt.
- Place the cubes in a microwavable container. Place container in the microwave. Melt them at 20 seconds interval. Check during each intervals, this is to avoid your soap from getting burnt.
- Once soap base is ready and melted, add in 15g of Peppermint Essential Oil into the melted soap base. Use a pipette for ease measuring & dispensing. Mix with a spatula.
- Next, split soap mixture into two equal parts. Pour slowly as soap might still be warm at this point.
- Add in Green Mica that has been diluted with some glycerin into container 1. Mix again until mica is evenly dispersed in soap.
- Repeat step 5 with Synstar Red Mica & soap mixture in container 2.
- Next, grab your molds and Rubbing Alcohol. Spray the mold with alcohol in order to provide a sterile surface, ideal for your solid soap to sit in. Pour soap mixture from both containers into mold then spray again with rubbing alcohol to remove bubbles.
- Once harden, remove soap from mold like so.
- Cut soap into equal wedges. (Like cutting a pizza :p)
- Using the same mold, place each wedge next to each other alternately. Each mold should have 8 wedges.
- Pour melted transparent soap base on top. Once done, spray the top part of the soap with more Rubbing Alcohol to eliminate air bubbles and achieve a smooth surface on the soap. Leave shampoo to harden for 1 to 2 hours.
- Once hardened, remove soap from mold like so.
- Soap is ready to use!
