DIY Hand Care Series: Honey Hand Moisturiser


The hands are used a lot, so the skin can become dry and damaged easily. In order to protect your hands; moisturizing is an important step. Today’s recipe is for a Honey Lightweight Hand Moisturizer. To make this you’ve got to add honey, buttercream fragrance oil and sparkle gold mica to a lotion base. Honey provides an array of benefits. It has antibacterial properties which protects you from infections. It is also full of antioxidants. Honey is extremely moisturizing and soothing, and gives your skin a nice glow. 

Besides honey; the other ingredients in this moisturiser are: The lotion base is a gentle moisturizer using jojoba oil as the main oil. The fragrance oil gives the moisturizer a yummy aroma, while the sparkle gold mica, gives it a nice look.

Duration:

Preparation Time : 5 minutes
Total Time : 20 minutes 

Ingredients: (makes 200g Moisturizer)

  1. 200g SoapLab’s Jojoba Lotion Base
  2. 1g Raw Honey  
  3. 2g Buttercream Fragrance Oil 
  4. 0.5g Sparkle Gold Mica 
  5. 1g Glycerin
  6. 10 sprays of Rubbing Alcohol
  7. 60g storage jar x 3 

Equipments You Will Need:

  1. Heat Resistant Containers
  2. Spatula/ Stirrer (Can Also be kitchen Spoon)
  3. Weighing Scale (Digital)

How to Make

Visual Guide  

  1. In a mixing container, put in 200g SoapLab’s Jojoba Lotion Base.  

  2. Add in Raw Honey  into the container.

  3. Add in 2g of Buttercream Fragrance Oil to the container. You may use a pipette to make it easier to measure and dispense the oil.

  4. Add in Sparkle Gold Mica that has been premixed with glycerin. 

  5. Using a normal baking spatula, mix lotion, oil, honey & mica together.  
  6. Get your disposable piping bag and transfer all of your mixture into it. This will make an easy transfer from mixing container to storage jar.  

  7. Spray storage container with rubbing alcohol to remove any existing impurities & bacteria. 

  8. Using a pair of scissors, snip off the end of the piping bag, now its ready to fill. Fill mixture until it reaches the brim of the jar. Do not overfill as it will spill and overflow when you screw your cap on. 

  9. Screw on the cap and this hand moisturiser is ready to be use (:

  3. Make sure all your utensils and work surface is clean and sterilise as dirty area and utensils can reduce shelf life of scrub
  4. Do not add in any Fresh ingredients that can spoil easily as this will reduce the shelf life of product unless specified in recipe. Click here to find out more
  5. If applying on face, avoid citrus based or sandalwood essential oil as Malaysian weather will cause your skin to be easily sun burnt. Wear sun protection if add these Essential oils.
