Cold process soaps are a great way to make soaps. It has a heap of benefits, such as maintain the nourishment of the ingredients.

If you are a soapmaker, cold process soaps is one of the ways to go. It allows you to combine a unique mixture of ingredients to your liking, with your chosen designs. It definitely is a refreshing step away from store bought soaps.

Today’s recipe is for a milk infused cold process soap called Iced Honeycomb Milk Soap Bar. Add an oil mix to lye flakes, distilled water and Nippy’s Iced Honeycomb Milk. The oil mix which contains palm, coconut, castor and olive oils help nourish the skin and improve and protect the health of your skin. The oils have a high amount of mineral, vitamins and antioxidants which enable them to do this.

  2. Slowly mix with a whisk until all the lye flakes have dissolved in the distilled water. Solution may become hot, do be cautious.

  3. To bring lye solution to room temperature, place container in a water bath.

  4.  Measure out the Iced Honeycomb Flavoured Milk carefully to avoid any spillage and then set aside.

  5. Separately, pour your Oil Mix into a heat resistant mixing container. Combine room temperature Lye Water  with the oil mix.

  6. Next, use a whisk and mix until it reaches thin trace. Timing of this may vary as the faster you mix, the faster solution will saponify and reaches thin trace.

  7. Next, add in Oatmeal, Milk & Honey Fragrance Oil. For this, use a pipette for easy measuring & dispensing

  8. Add in Honeycomb Flavoured Milk into the container and mix everything using a whisk until milk & oil are evenly dispersed throughout the soap mixture.

  9. Prepare your silicone mold. Spray with Rubbing Alcohol to sanitise mold. Next, pour in soap mixture into each cavity. Pour carefully, soap might still be warm.

  10.  Sprinkle on some “Honeycomb” on top of each soap. These are orange coloured soaps that's cut into pieces (can do using cold process soap or use SoapLab's Honey Soap Base) Then, leave soap for 24 to 48 hours to harden.

  11. Once hardened, carefully pull mold away from soap. This will help preserve those desired sharp & crispy edges of the soap.

  12. Whenever you feel ready, gently push soap out from the mold.

  13. Soap will be needing 2 - 4 weeks to fully cure before it is used. Keep soap aside till then
