Today will be making a vanilla lemon pie soap. This is the last recipe for this week's dessert series.
To make these; add distilled water and lye to an oil mix. The oil mix rejuvenates and moisturises the skin. It is also rich with antioxidants and has antibacterial qualities, which reduces inflammation and redness of the skin. The oil mix is a combination of olive oil, coconut oil, palm oil and castor oil.
Next, add lemon essential oil which brighten skin. It also tightens the skin and prevents wrinkles. We also added creme brûlée fragrance for a savoury scent.
Finally add brown iron oxide and yellow mica to give your soap a dash of colors.
This soap is truly a treat to your senses and would make a great gift for your friends and family.

Ingredients: (makes 4 x 87.5g soap)
- 94.5g Coconut Oil
- 94.5g Olive Oil
- 31.5g Castor Oil
- 94.5g Palm Oil
- 46.5g SoapLab’s Sodium Hydroxide (NaOH) Pastilles
- 46.5g Distilled Water
- 11g Lemon Essential Oil
- 11g Creme Brûlée Fragrance Oil
- 5g Yellow Mica
- 5g Iron Oxide Brown Mica

- Combine lye flakes with distilled water carefully. Wear gloves & long sleeves to avoid backsplash getting in contact with exposed skin.
- Slowly mix with a whisk until all the lye flakes have dissolved in the distilled water. Solution may become hot, do be cautious.
- To bring lye solution to room temperature, place container in a water bath.
- Separately, pour your Oil Mix into a heat resistant mixing container.
- Next, add in room temperature Lye Water into the mixture. Pour in carefully.
- Next, use a whisk and mix until it reaches thin trace. Timing of this may vary as the faster you mix, the faster solution will saponify and reaches thin trace.
- Next, pour 1/3rd of the mixture out into a different mixing container.
- To that, add in Lemon Essential Oil.
- Also, add in Yellow Mica into the mixture. Mix again with a whisk and set aside.
- In the other container, Creme Brûlée Fragrance Oil.
- Next, add in Brown Iron Oxide Mica.
- Transfer 1/5th of the mixture into a disposable piping bag.
- With the rest of the mixture, pour into a silicone pie mold.
- With whats left, pour onto a silicone baking tray. Tap and leave it to harden.
- Now back to the “pie”. Pour the yellow soap mixture in the middle of the mold.
- Using a spatula, spread soap around the middle part of the “pie”.
- For the edges, pipe some brown soap mixture around it.
- Peel off the soap from the baking tray. Cut them into strips and lay them on top of the “pie” like so. Drizzle on some white soap with the help of a piping bag (optional). Leave soap to set for 24 hours.
- Once ready, remove soap from mold carefully. Using a knife, cut soap into 4 equal parts.
- Soap will need 4 weeks to cure. After 4 weeks, soap will be ready to use (:

- Make sure all your utensils and work surface is clean and sterilise as dirty area and utensils can reduce shelf life of scrub

- If applying on face, avoid citrus based or sandalwood essential oil as Malaysian weather will cause your skin to be easily sun burnt. Wear sun protection if add these Essential oils.
