DIY Oatmeal Soap For Psoriasis At Home

Today we have an exciting one! We all know how good oats are for us. It’s full of fiber and vitamins which keeps us healthy. It also is great for weight management as it keeps us full for longer.

However, most importantly; Oats is also great for our skin!. With today’s recipe for the Oatmeal Enriched Milky Soap Bar, we will find out how. Firstly you will need an oil mix which contains coconut, castor, olive and palm oil. All these oils provide the skin with nourishment and vitamins. Palm oil helps improve the overall wellness and health of the skin. This is due to its high content of antioxidants and vitamins such as Vitamin A and E. Next, combine the oil mix with lye flakes, distilled water, Alpro’s Oat Milk (or you can make your own oat milk!) and oats.

Oat milk removes impurities and dead skin cells, while moisturizing. This nourishes the skin giving it a nice radiant glow. The oats act as a gentle exfoliator for the skin. Due to this its a great soap to be used in skin problems like psoriasis.

For the final touch, add maple, oat and honey fragrance oil for a hearty and delightful smell.

  3. To bring lye solution to room temperature, place container in a water bath.

  4. Measure out Alpro’s Oat Milk carefully to avoid any spillage and then set aside.

  5. Separately, pour your Oil Mix into a heat resistant mixing container. Combine room temperature Lye Water  with the oil mix.

  6. Next, use a whisk and mix until it reaches thin trace. Timing of this may vary as the faster you mix, the faster solution will saponify and reaches thin trace.

  7.  Once it reaches thin trace, add in the oats.

  8. Next, add in Maple, Oat & Honey Fragrance Oil. For this, use a pipette for easy measuring & dispensing

  9. Add in Oat's Milk into the container and mix everything using a whisk until milk, oat & oil are evenly dispersed throughout the soap mixture.

  10. Prepare your silicone mold. Spray with Rubbing Alcohol to sanitise mold. Next, pour in soap mixture into each cavity. Pour carefully, soap might still be warm.

  11. Sprinkle on some more oats on top of each soap. Then, leave soap for 24 to 48 hours to harden.
