Handmade Rose Hot Process Soap: DIY

Hi everyone;
Today ill be showing you another hot process soap method.
This time we will be doing rose flavoured soap that looks like its layered.

Hot process method of making soap is an extension to the cold process soap making. Its just adding heat to existing cold process soap so that you don’t have to wait for 4-6 weeks of curing time. If you are not sure about hot process soap you can read more about it in our last two recipes; here & here.

So anyways; when making hot process soap; one of the biggest complain is the fact that its so difficult to add ‘colors’ into it. Simply because its very thick and paste like that its almost ‘impossible’ to mix them. Unlike cold process or melt and pour soap that is more fluid and easy to do layering and all other kinds of soap decoration.

But having said that; you can still add 1-2 colors in the soap just like how it is below. Also; hot process soap gives a really nice ‘rustic’ appearance! Doesn’t it look like a traditional handmade soap? So gorgeous and authentic!

  1. Place your distilled water in a heat resistant container, ready to be mix. Wear gloves & long sleeves to avoid backsplash getting in contact with exposed skin.

  2. Carefully, combine lye flakes with distilled water slowly. Mix using a whisk, and set aside.

  3. Turn your crock pot on high. Add in your Olive Oil into the crock pot.

  4. Next, add in Coconut Oil.

  5. Add in Castor Oil.

  6. Next, slowly add in your Lye Water.

  7. Using a hand blender, mix and blend the mixture until it reaches this trace. Once there, place the lid on and leave soap for 20 - 30 minutes.

  8. After half an hour, soap will thicken, especially around the edges of the crock pot.
  9. Using a spatula, break them up and mix everything together. Place the lid back on and leave the mixture again for another 20 - 30 minutes.

  10. After another 30 minutes, soap will continue to thicken and appears more transparent.

  11. Again, using a spatula, mix everything around and place the lid back on. Leave for another 20 - 30 minutes until soap has a gel like consistency.

  12. Add in premixed Rose  Red Mica and Rose Flower Fragrance Oil. Mix lightly with a spatula.

  13. Spray mold with rubbing alcohol. Add soap mixture into the mold. Tap occasionally. Repeat until mold is full. Leave soap to cool & harden.

  14. Once ready, remove soap from mold carefully and place on a cutting board.

  15. Using a knife, cut soap according to desired size.

  16. Tadaa! Soap is ready to use :)
