Hi. Good morning. Heres another question that we get asked a lot so i thought of enlighten you with the answer to this question.

Should you or should you not register your product with KKM (notification)

First of all let me explain what product notification is and how it works. Product notification is basically you notifiying KKM (kementerian kesihatan malaysia) that you have this one product; and this product is under your company and you are the product owner and you are responsible for everything related to the product. You will have to submit documents to NPRA via quest 3 including manufacturing GMP licence etc.

Should i register my natural handmade products with KKM?

Hi all today’s recipe is for the Coconut Overnight Healing Cream. This healing cream will be a welcome relief to dry hands and help reduce scarring or any other inflammation

Firstly, to make these you will need a shea olive cream base. SoapLab’s Shea Olive cream base is made using shea butter and pure olive oil. This is extremely moisturizing and also nourishes the skin. It also hydrates the skin, leaving it with a radiant glow.

For the extra ‘umph’; Vitamin E is also added to moisturize and soften the skin. It is rich with antioxidants, which will make the skin healthier..
This cream is already great to be used on its own but to ‘spice’ it up a little more; we added creamy coconut fragrance oil for an aroma which will transport you to a beautiful beach!

Apply these on your hands before sleeping and se how great your hands feels the next day! If you are one of those with really badly dried skin; apply these and wear a breathable gloves. It will help the ‘healing’ faster! Good Luck!

Hi good morning.
Today's Question is: If you were using the shampoo bar from SoapLab' do you need to rinse it with vinegar?

Yes you do. Although we tried our best to have a soap bar that is well pH balanced; the pH is still 7.5 for these shampoo bars. Our hair's pH is around 4.5-5.5. Therefore it needs a mild acidic rinse (usually white vinegar or apple cider vinegar)

Hi all! Today’s recipe is for a Tomato Pre Manicure Hand Soak. Firstly, you will need a coconut liquid soap base. This base is made in SoapLab and it is incredibly moisturizing and will hydrate and nourish your hands.

Next we added, tomato extract. The reason why we added tomato extract is because it unclogs the pores as well as brightens the skin, as it is rich with Vitamin C. Hence its a good ‘soak’ instead of just ‘wash’. For best effectiveness; use these hand soak after scrubbing and soak hands in for 5-10 mins to get the full brightening benefit.

Finally; we added cranberry balsam fragrance oil for a flowery aroma. This hand soak, will make your hand soft and unclog the pores, making your manicure a great one.

Hi good morning. Heres a question from our client about mica & pigment sold in SoapLab. To read more about it click here.

As you know SoapLab has many colors and most of them comes from minerals and earth. If you are familiar with the term ‘mineral make up’; well these colors are used to do those.

Today’s recipe is for the Grapefruit & Jojoba Sugar Scrub. In this recipe we added sugar to a lotion base to make the scrub. Sugar is a great exfoliator. Exfoliating is extremely important to make the skin softer and smoother. It also helps remove dead skin thats around our nail beds.  For this recipe you can either use course or fine sugar depending on how ‘rough’ scrubbing do you want.

The lotion base that we are using in this recipe is Jojoba Lotion Base by SoapLab. Its made of jojoba oil and it moisturises and hydrates the skin. We also added red ruby grapefruit fragrance oil for a pleasant and fruity aroma. And finally, we added synstar red mica for a dash of color.

After my last post on Rose Hip Oil here; we got many people asking us if rose hip oil can be used in the morning.

One of the reason there might be doubt on that is because of it’s vitamin A content and the similarity to tretinoin (retinol A)

Though; it may contain similar effect as tretinoin; Rose Hip Oil is not as ‘strong’ as tretinoin therefore it shouldn’t be a problem in using Rose Hip Oil in the morning.

Hi all.
Many times clients of SoapLab asked us if we were able to take back the containers (plastic) and recycle them.

I know that we were suppose to be all natural and we shouldn't have to 'throw' these plastics away.

Unfortunately we cant take them back and recycle as we are dealing with cosmetic ingredients and we need the bottles to be sanitised before we could reuse them. If we reused them as is without proper cleaning; it will effect the shelf life of the new ingredients added in. Even if it was just oil; it can speed up the rancidity of the new oil and therefore for those reasons; we cant take them back to recycle them.

If you wanted to make something that was anti aging; one of the ingredients you should look at is rose hip oil.

It has various ‘important’ components in it like: oleic acid, linoleic acid etc. But one of the most important component it has is: beta carotene and tretinoin precursor.

Beta carotene is something that is usually found in carrot (thats why rosehip oil is darker or reddish in color) and its a powerful anti oxidant. Beta carotene converts itself to become retinal and retinol (vitamin A) and therefore its great for anti aging.

Retinol, although mild; it is said to work like tretinoin (a medicine that can be easily found in pharmacy).

Heres another frequently asked question on why its very difficult to remove butter (shea butter/cocoa butter/mango butter) when applied difectly to skin or hair.

As you can see; most of the time body butter’s recipe is mostly butter and oils and so so it makes sense if you just whip up some butters like shea and just use it directly right?

Well wrong unfortunately:( it may work in those cold weather area but not in a hot humid country such as Malaysia.

When applied directly these butters are suppose to moisturise our skin. However; since the weather here is too humid; the butter tends to feel sticky againts our skin. Doesnt feel great at all! Unlike if you use it in those cold weather area; its very cold there and dry so these butters feels great on our skin.

So now comes the part for removal.

Hi guys.

Today we will talk about what SK2 Essence is all about and over the course of next few days, I'll talk about how to make the similar product/essence with plant based ingredients for those who wants something that is natural and vegetarian. I will also come up with ingredients that are safe for sensitive skin or eczema skin so you can enjoy this too.

If you are in Asia; you should know that SK2 is really famous.

When i was younger; till very recently; i love using their products. Infact i used to save up every 'Ringgit' i could for this.

I believed the marketing they did and somehow i felt that it made a lot of changes to my skin (or is it placebo; i don't know!)

So for the purpose of making the creamy suspended sugar scrub; i decided to not put any ‘water phase’ inside. I needed something that doesn’t ‘dilute’ the sugar; but at the same time isn’t oily.

From my post yesterday; I’ve mentioned that using oil is the only way sugar doesn’t melt in scrub; however it becomes too oily and disgustingly greasy! Plus after sometime it will separate and you will have a layer of oil and sugar separated. I didn’t want that so i decided to reformulate and put in another alternative.

So today was the day i did an experiment.
For months now i wanted to make a creamy sugar scrub. We alsways use our Jojoba Lotion Base or Shea Olive Cream Base to make our sugar scrub.
Unfortunately though; due to the water content inside these bases; most of the time the sugar will melt or become softer (when we add course sugar).

Why doesnt the liquid soap lather well?
Heres one of the question of the day; why does SoapLab’s liquid soap not lather much?
Lathering means the soap should be ‘bubbly’ however; most ‘real’ natural soaps is not very bubbly; its more ‘creamy’.

SoapLab now has a variety of bases that you can use to create different kind of products. Its versatille and one of the reasons why we created them was because our client were seeking for a product that would cut their preparation time to half; and still enjoy it being all natural, safe and effective.

There was also another reason why we created bases; because many people who made the cream/lotions/ serums from scrtach at home didnt have the devices to measure or run a QC test to ensure the cleanliness and safety. Most of the clients who made from scratch couldnt prepare the ingredients in a clean manner; and because of that; most of their product couldnt last for more than 6 months or some even had a shorter shelf life even though they added the preservatives etc.

Due to that; we in SoapLab now make the bases since we have a 'clean' GMP room in our facility to do it.

So for our clients; all they needed to do was to use the bases as is; or they just needed to add additives like essential oil, fragrance, or extracts to make thier product uniquely theirs.
